Stretch marks are part of pregnancy and most pregnant women get stretch marks during pregnancy. That’s because the growing belly robs the skin of its natural moisture making it dry. Accutane

Grapefruit Seed Extract 

Grapefruit seed extract works well for skin conditions like acne, eczema and even stretch marks. It is known to heal skin issues and also tone the skin but did you know that most grapefruit seed extract that is used in skin care products are not natural but chemically-altered derivatives?  

Parabens

Parabens are widely used as antimicrobial preservatives in skin care products, including stretch marks creams and since pregnant women use stretch marks cream daily during pregnancy and postpartum, it can be harmful not just for them but also for the fetuses and infants. Exposure to parabens can cause low birth weight, impaired fetal growth and obesity in babies.

Phthalates

Phthalates are chemicals that are used in most personal care products. When pregnant women are exposed to phthalates during pregnancy there is an increased risk of preterm birth.

Firstly a good and safe stretch mark cream should be natural and dermatologically tested and safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Some of the ingredients that a safe and effective stretch marks cream should have are:

  • Cocoa Butter: It heals dry and itchy skin and also moisturises the skin.
  • Shea Butter: Reduces inflammation and deeply moisturises the skin.
  • Rosehip Oil:  Supports collagen formation.
  • Seabuckthorn Oil: Repairs skin damage and improves skin elasticity.

What Is The Right Way To Use Stretch marks Cream?

Massage the stretch marks cream on your stretching belly, hips, thighs and breasts before going to bed. Start applying the stretch marks cream from the third month of pregnancy and continue using it until at least six months postpartum.
