My baby is one week old and still not able to suck breast while feeding. I tried everything that he should suck the nipples. He is my first baby and I feel my nipple are not ready. Is it okay to give cow milk instead of lactogen powder since I am not able to produce much and it is hurting me while each time I try to take milk from my breast.
Hi please a big no to cow milk till one year and Akanksha has given you best advice. Watch lot of YouTube videos on latching, hold your baby on pillow and keep a small stool under your legs all these will give you proper latching. Keep trying and latching.

Both baby and you are new to breastfeeding so this problem arises in the beginning. However, there are solutions to it. You can try different feeding positions, to see what suits you and your baby the best. Also, there is nothing like you are not ready or not. It hurts because the baby is not able to latch properly. Make sure he fully opens his mouth, tickle his chin slowly so he opens his mouth fully and then put the nipple in his mouth. And not just the nipple, the areola should also go in his mouth, to have a perfect latch. Regarding being able to produce, you will produce more if you feed more, it's directly proportional. Eat breast milk inducing things like methi, garlic, lauki, Masoor ki dal etc. Also include shatavari granules too. You can try pumping too if your breasts feel too heavy and then feed the baby by bowl and spoon. Also, please don't start cow milk before 1 year. Take it slow, one day at a time. You gave birth to a life. It's a big thing 😊
