Kids love playing and soaking in the rains. However, most kids are discouraged to venture out when it is raining lest they catch a monsoon illness. But, this monsoon, let your kid enjoy the rains.
Here are a few outdoor playtime ideas for your kids designed especially for a rainy day:
Make a splash
Numerous muddy puddles are formed when it rains. Ask your kids to jump over the puddles. And if you are not a conservative mom, let them jump in the puddles and make a splash. See who makes the biggest splash! Well, you can join them too. Young or old, stomping through pools of water is always fun!

Sail boats
Make paper boats from coloured papers and get your kids to sail them over the puddles. See whose boat lasts the longest and watch them excited!

Paint with raindrops
This one is a creative activity. Take some white construction paper and food colouring in different colours. On a construction paper, ask your kid to sprinkle a few colours. Now, take a plastic bag outside and lay it on the ground. And place the paper with the colours on the plastic. Now, see how the rain turns the coloured powders into a beautiful work of art. Take the picture inside to let it dry.
PS: It works only during a drizzle or light rain.

Hunt for mushrooms
Remember those wild mushrooms that pop up under the trees during the rains? How fascinating they look! Go on a wild mushroom hunting with your kid in a nearby park or woods. It would be fun for your child to collect these mushrooms and later eat them.
PS: Just be sure that the mushrooms are edible before you cook.
Catch the rain
Give your kid a cup or a jar and ask them to collect the rainwater. Later, measure the water to know how much they have collected.
Race sticks or twigs
Find a moving stream, and race chips of wood, sticks or twigs in the moving water. See who comes first!
Swim in the rain
Blow up an inflatable pool and place it outside in the rain. When it’s filled, get your kids to enjoy their own swimming pool. Make sure their head is well covered with a swimming cap.
